I have a physical handicap called peripheral neuropathy. It results in leg weakness and inability to walk regularly. My tub over the years I've tried to make safe, putting in a shower chair, nonstick daisies on the tub floor, and adding a corded shower. However, it had started to become an adventure in stepping in and out of the tub. A fall for me would be catastrophic. A few years ago, in my other bathroom I had an expensive conversion done removing a tub and replacing with a premium fold down seat, and subway tiled 60" by 32" stall shower. However, I don't like to intrude when I have some long-term guests using the back bathroom. I have friends that live out of town, and out of the country that visit me and stay for weeks at a time, and the back bedroom and bath is my guest room. I use a smaller bedroom and the nonattached front bathroom that was becoming storage area as it was dangerous for me to use.I knew what this device was and have used one before in some hotels when I traveled for contract work. I would usually ask for a handicap bathroom, and while some hotels have stall showers for that, some still only have tubs. They have corded showers in those handicap tubs and grab bars but for some they use this transfer seat. It makes it easy to sit down and put one leg at a time over the tub wall. I like the handle on the right as it helps keep stable when sliding over. Not all of these transfer benches have them. This makes getting in and out of the tub safe and less difficult.Seat back can be set on either side, and to keep stable the inner legs have suction cups for stability. I recommend checking the suction before use and wetting the area to make a solid connection. I did have to scrap up a couple of my old rubber nonslip daisies, so they don't prevent the suction legs to adhere to the tub bottom. The outside legs are rubber and nonslip, so everything is stable getting in and out of the tub. Another good feature is the height adjustment. Easy to snap into place to change the sitting heights. While I'm relatively short for a male at 5' 7" I tend to sit like a six-footer I have trouble getting out of lower set chairs and car seats. This assembles easily and quickly and you can change the orientation to match how your tub is oriented. I can now use this space again with something other than storage, and not bother my guests by making them share a bathroom. Recommended.
